Finance & Accounting Vacancies Increase
Vacancies in the finance and accounting sector increased annually by 10.2% in the first quarter of 2016, according to the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo). Higher workloads leading up to the financial year end are said to be responsible for a 29% rise in temporary and contract vacancies within finance and accounting. A separate survey by reed.co.uk showed that newly qualified accountants enjoy annual average starting salaries at £50,463, reflecting a talent shortage in the sector and an increased propensity for employers to recruit for the longer term.
